Criminal cases charged through the Lyon County Attorney’s Office are on the upswing when compared to the past three years.
Lyon County Attorney Marc Goodman says drugs are the reason why — and he says “you can connect drugs to darn near every crime that’s committed.”
Drug possession and domestic violence are spiking when it comes to the criminal category. For drug types, Meth and marijuana are still prevalent, although meth is now far cheaper than marijuana.
Fentanyl traffic is increasing as well, but the vast majority of those cases are going straight to federal court.
Through July, there were 338 criminal charges filed in Lyon County, up from 302 in 2020 and 2022 and 316 in 2021. Last year ended with 482 total cases charged.
