After over a year’s worth of construction, Evergy is just about ready to open the doors of its new service center outside Emporia.
The utility has announced a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 10 am Tuesday at the facility, 683 Road 180. Representatives from Evergy, the city of Emporia and Lyon County will be on hand.
Evergy spokesperson Courtney Lewis says Emporia serves an important location in Evergy’s coverage area, sitting midway between its three largest hubs — Wichita, Topeka and Kansas City.
Evergy broke ground in April 2022. The new service center replaces Evergy’s current home in at 220 Mechanic and more than doubles the size of the existing space.
