Emporia State Men’s basketball announced their incoming recruiting class for the 2023-24 season on Friday. The class includes nine new Hornets that will join four returning starters and seven total returners from last year’s 23-9 team that advanced to the Second round of the NCAA Tournament last year. The four-year college transfers include players Division II experience including Solomon Oraegbu from Ferris State and Drew Tennial from Oklahoma Christian. Head Coach Craig Doty said their Division II experience made them very attractive recruits.
The class includes junior college transfer David Duncan from Wichita, who averaged 18 ppg at Hesston College last year, and early signee Chris Harris, a 6-8 forward out of Andover who was an All-Class 5A Honorable Mention last year for Andover High School. The Hornets open their season November 4 at the Small College Basketball National Hall of Fame Classic in Lakeland, Fla.
