Four of the defendants in the Jesus Avila murder case are tentatively set for hearings this week.
Plea hearings are ahead for three of the defendants. On Monday, Jovan Pecina starts the process at 9 am before Judge Jeff Larson, followed by Andrew Granado at 10 am — also before Judge Larson — and Alan Alanis at 10:30 am before Judge Lee Fowler. Jordy Cornejo-Campoverde appears at 4:30 pm Tuesday for a review hearing before Judge Fowler.
All four are currently charged with first-degree murder, aggravated robbery, conspiracy to commit both first-degree murder and aggravated robbery, arson and other charges in Avila’s murder dating back to September 2017.
Potential adjudications in their cases follow a plea deal and related sentencing of Samuel Garcia to over 50 years in prison on counts of second-degree murder, conspiracy to commit first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit aggravated robbery. They also follow a nearly four-year sentence currently underway for Armando Nunez on charges of attempted burglary of a vehicle, interference with law enforcement and criminal damage.
