Four practices are left before the Emporia High football team takes the field in a game.
Between Friday’s Jamboree against Wichita Heights and Garden City and Saturday’s intrasquad scrimmage as part of the Red and Black Scrimmage, there are still some things the Spartans need to improve on according to Coach Kaden Glinsmann.
Glinsmann says the growth of younger players has been great to see from the first week of practice into the second week of practice.
Glinsmann says there’s a big emphasis early in the week in practice before Friday.
Prior to Emporia High taking the field for its scrimmage, the 4th and 5th grade Mighty Spartans, the Emporia Recreation Commission’s 5th/6th grade youth tackle football program and the Emporia Middle School Junior Spartans also held scrimmages. Glinsmann says it’s important to get those programs involved because they will soon become Spartans when they begin attending Emporia High.
Emporia High kicks off its season at 7 p.m. Friday at Welch Stadium against Pittsburg. The game will be broadcast on Mix 104.9.
