In just the two short months since it opened its doors, the St. James Missionary Baptist Church’s Storehouse clothing ministry has had an abundance of visitors both taking advantage of the service and those who are contributing to it.
That’s according to St. James First Lady Lawana Williams who spoke with KVOE News during the Storehouse’s latest free giveaway Saturday morning. Williams tells KVOE News the community was extremely giving when the mission first opened back in July and that generosity has not ceased since.
Williams says there are so many great similar-minded missions across the community, however, many of those do have a price for the clothing and items that they offer. She says the great thing about the storehouse is they have everything from name brands to “hand-me-downs” and everything costs the exact same amount.
Additionally, Williams says the Storehouse is open to anyone and everyone regardless of background, income or situation.
While the mission is seeing tremendous success in just two short months, several updates are needed to the building at 724 Sylvan including a new porch and siding. The church is accepting donations, both to the Storehouse and to support updates to the home.
If you are interested in donating to the Storehouse, clothing, toys and other household item donations can be left on the Storehouse porch at 724 Sylvan Street. Monetary donations can be left at the St. James Church mailbox at 730 Sylvan.
