Osage City residents, specifically those in the city limits, are being told their homes will be part of a special survey on water lines inside their homes.
Osage City has been directed by both the Environmental Protection Agency and Kansas Department of Health and Environment to survey all homes in the city limits to determine the type of water lines, including connections between meters to homes. The survey also includes the city’s main lines around town.
The survey is going out to all Osage City homeowners, renters and business owners. Survey recipients are asked to return their surveys to City Hall as soon as possible.
The survey is rooted in the situation that unfolded in Flint, Michigan, in 2014, where water supply issues resulted in the discovery of lead in the drinking water.
Osage City residents with questions can call the city’s director of utilities at 785-528-3714.
