Excitement is building for the fourth annual Halfway to Everywhere Music and Arts Festival this weekend.
Perhaps nobody is more excited than lead organizer and Halfway Director Hank Osterhout. Osterhout could barely contain his excitement when he joined KVOE’s Morning Show Tuesday to preview Saturday’s event.
This year’s event will feature nearly 30 performers across the downtown corridor with the art market set up in the Farmers Market parking lot near Seventh and Merchant. No Coast Film Festival will also be hosting a music video screening event at 627 Event Space.
While the core of activities are scheduled for Saturday afternoon and evening, this year’s Halfway will once again officially kick off Friday night with a special concert inside of the Emporia Granada Theatre. Doors for the concert will open at 6:30 pm with the concert beginning at 7 pm featuring Patti Steel and Daydream.
As in year’s past the festival is free to attend, however, this is the final year residents can attend at no cost. Osterhout says the change is being made for two key reasosn, sustainability and safety as last year’s event nearly reached the projected capacity limit.
That being said, supporter passes will be available once again at a cost of $150 and will include a meal, beverages and a swag bag. Halfway to Everywhere will run from 2 pm to midnight Saturday.
