For the fourth year, Emporia was transported Halfway to Everywhere Saturday.
The free music and arts festival once again took over the downtown corridor featuring nearly 30 acts across five stages. Beginning in 2019, Halfway has quickly grown into one of the biggest events on the community calendar much to the joy of lead organizer Hank Osterhout.
While speaking with KVOE News Saturday, Osterhout stated there are a lot of ingredients needed to make the event happen each year. He says the most important of those is passion.
Visit Emporia Director Lelan Dains says Halfway has not only generated a great response and turnout from the local community in its short existence, but it’s now garnering great attention on a regional and state level as well.
In addition to the various performers who took to the stage Saturday, the event also saw the return of the Halfway Art Market and the addition of a new event, the first-ever No Coast Film Fest music video screening. No Coast Assistant Director Rosalie Krenger says they were proud to be involved and help shine a spotlight on the music video genre.
Planning for the 5th annual Halfway to Everywhere festival is already underway and will take place, as is tradition, over the Labor Day weekend.
