Emporia State’s Joanie Westcoat was named the MIAA’s Defender of the Week Wednesday.
It’s Westcoat’s fourth career MIAA Defender of the Week honor.
Westcoat anchored the Hornets’ defense by allowing just one goal in their first two matches against Southwestern Oklahoma State and Minnesota State Mankato.
Westcoat played the entirety of the first two matches for the Hornets.
Emporia State travels to Florida this weekend for a pair of matches. They’ll face No. 25 Tampa at 4:30 p.m. Friday and follow that with a match at Eckerd on Sunday.
