One final Emporia High athletic team will begin its season Thursday.
The Emporia High gymnastics team will compete in a dual at Newton.
Emporia High only graduated two seniors from last year’s team but returned a strong core of gymnasts.
Senior Laney Cooper returns after qualifying for state a season ago but was unable to compete. She says that’s motivating her heading into the new season.
Emporia High has five seniors including one new to the team and one freshman. Coach Angela Podrebarac says it’s a great group especially when they have practice before the school day.
Emporia High’s lone home meet will be on September 19 at Emporia High School.
