Three vehicles collided in downtown Emporia on Thursday evening, leading to six people being medically observed at the scene but none going to a hospital afterward.
The crash happened in the 10 block of West Sixth just after 7 pm. Emporia Police Officer Dominick Vortherms says all three vehicles were eastbound and two were stopped when a third vehicle started a chain-reaction wreck. Vortherms says the driver of the third vehicle hit the gas instead of the brake.
Vortherms says there were three people in the first and second vehicles, including two young children in the second vehicle, and one person in the third. The driver of the third vehicle was cited for inattentive driving.
Names have not been released. Eastbound traffic on Sixth was blocked at Merchant for about 30 minutes after the wreck.
