Given the air conditions this week, it’s not surprising that local pharmacies have gotten a lot of calls from allergy sufferers.
Haag Pharmacy owner Amber Haag said it’s been a busy week for her staff just with allergies.
Smoke from wildfires in the Pacific Northwest and Canada started moving across Kansas early Wednesday. Air quality has been unhealthy for sensitive groups or unhealthy in general since then.
Haag also says the wildfire particles have combined with other allergens, like harvest-related dust and early leaf-dropping due to ongoing drought. She says antihistamine nasal sprays and eye drops can provide temporary relief, as can daily allergy tablets.
