Emporia Fire and local utilities responded to a pair of calls within 20 minutes of each other Saturday morning.
Emporia Fire and Kansas Gas reported to 2 Market at 8:30 am after a reported gas leak. Emporia Fire Capt. Michael Nunley says there was an unspecified issue with a water heater, but there was no initial sign of an actual gas leak.
Shortly before 8:50 am, EFD and Evergy responded to a pole fire at 620 West Fourth. Nunley says a transformer fire developed, but there is no current confirmation of any related outage. A cause is pending.
No injuries were reported with either incident.
