A tough tournament field proved to be a challenge for the Emporia High volleyball team.
However, it was a challenge the Lady Spartans passed.
Emporia High went 4-0 to win the Valley Center Tournament on Saturday.
Emporia High began the day by rallying to defeat Andale (15-25, 25-16, 25-22). The Lady Spartans then swept Salina Central (25-11, 25-20), defeated Valley Center (19-25, 26-24, 25-16), and ended the day sweeping Kapaun Mt. Carmel (25-19, 25-23).
Emporia High is now 13-1 on the season. The Lady Spartans travel to Topeka to face Topeka West and Salina South on Thursday.
