A new Lyon County Human Resources Director could be unveiled in a week’s time.
During the Lyon County Commission’s weekly action meeting Thursday morning, commissioners held a non-elected personnel executive session for “guidance on filling open positions for the county” with Counselor Molly Priest and interim HR Director Vici Smith. Following the session, KVOE asked if a new HR director had been selected, with commissioners noting they have identified a candidate, however, a formal announcement will likely be made next week.
The hiring of a new director follows the departure of Janice Huffman back in July. Smith has held the interim role since that time.
In other business Thursday morning, commissioners approved signing a letter of support for Lyon County Area Transportation’s grant application for capital and operational assistance. A payment in the amount of $14,467 to KomTeK System also gained unanimous approval.
Commissioners also received the latest operational update from Melissa Landis and Gayle Taylor Ford from Empower House Ministries and approved a quote from Myers Brothers of Kansas City totaling $38,080 for two Eurovet heavy truck exhaust hose reel assemblies for the ongoing Road and Bridge building project. Separately, commissioners gave directions for Smith and IT Director Chuck Boyxe to gather more information on and develop a potential contract with a vendor for the county’s website.
The Lyon County Commission will reconvene for its weekly action meeting next Thursday at 9 am inside of the Lyon County Courthouse Commission Chambers.
