After several weeks of no construction activity, Emporia’s Sixth and Prairie intersection will have some work to start the week.
The Kansas Department of Transportation will have traffic signal work Monday and Tuesday, weather permitting. There will be intermittent lane closures as a result, and KDOT says drivers should plan for delays.
This follows an intensive geometric improvement project at the intersection, which has already led to better turning for large trucks, as well as improved sidewalks, curb and gutter and underground utilities. Prior work also led to the city’s first radar-based traffic signals, designed to help traffic flow in poor visibility conditions.
