So far, so good as LCAT continues adjusting its operations to meet a major change in demand patterns.
This past weekend, LCAT changed its route bus to a demand bus, meaning both Saturday buses are being filled with demand-based passengers — and all route-based services have ended for Saturday service. LCAT Director Shane Brunner says ridership began moving towards demand-based service as traffic began returning to normal numbers during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The change that went into effect Saturday will be permanent, and other changes are at least being discussed. LCAT continues testing the prospect of a similar change for weekdays with additional stops when compared to the current route bus. It is also asking riders to give feedback on its service, including possible changes.
LCAT asks riders to reserve their demand spots 24 hours in advance. Residents can call 620-343-4207 or go to the LCAT Facebook page to reserve rides, submit feedback answers or get questions answered.
