A broken line of thunderstorms brought brief rainfall and small hail to parts of the KVOE listening area.
Storms began moving across the area after 7 am, bringing small hail to northwest Emporia. Rain totals:
*KVOE studios: 0.25 inches
*Emporia Municipal Airport: 0.11 inches
*Country Club Heights: 0.17 inches
*Deerbrook Addition: 0.15 inches
*South and Sylvan: 0.35 inches
There are increasing chances of thunderstorm activity by late afternoon Tuesday, especially south of Emporia.
A slight chance of storms by mid-morning increases to a moderate chance by sunset. The Storm Prediction Center says the south half of Greenwood County is in a marginal risk for severe weather, specifically wind gusts to 60 mph and hail up to the size of quarters.
A marginal risk affects parts of Coffey and Greenwood counties Wednesday, again for hail and wind. A marginal risk is posted for Thursday, affecting areas along and west of a line from Wilsey to Saffordville to Eureka. Shower and thunderstorm chances vary by the day, but there is a chance of rainfall every day through at least Sunday in the current forecast.
