At least three Iowa residents were hurt in a construction zone crash on the Kansas Turnpike in Osage County early Sunday.
The Kansas Highway Patrol says the ccrash happened shortly before 5 am at mile marker 155.2 northbound, eight miles northeast of the Admire exit and 28 miles northeast of the Emporia tollgate. The driver, 39-year-old Maria Garcia Escobedo, went through a closed road where the highway stopped and a gap was cut out between the road and bridge surface. Escbedo drove over the gap, causing heavy damage to the pickup.
Escobedo, 20-year-old Christian Escobedo and 46-year-old Victor Torres all suffered suspected minor injuries and were not taken to hospitals for treatment. The status of a listed but unnamed juvenile is not being released.
