Emporia’s CCLIP highway resurfacing project is moving forward with about a month’s worth of work still left.
Work has been ongoing for several weeks on US Highway 50 from Mechanic Street east to the city limits. The city has two major aspects of the overall work zone underway now:
*Asphalt mill and overlay continues on all five lanes from Mechanic Street to the west side of the East Sixth Avenue viaduct
*Asphalt mill and overlay has started between Corinth and the east city limits, including both lanes and the paved shoulders in both directions. This involves bringing traffic down to one lane with a flag crew and pilot car.
Work is tentatively set to end by late October. Drivers are still encouraged to both follow all posted traffic control if in the construction zone and find other travel routes if at all possible.
