One of Emporia’s biggest fall fundraisers is on the community calendar this weekend.
The Walk to Defeat ALS is coming to Jones Park on Saturday. Kelly Bosak, the ALS Mid-America Leadership Council chairperson, says all proceeds stay to help local ALS victims and their families.
Registration begins at 8 am, with the walk at 9. Bosak says residents can register online at walktodefeatals.org. There is no registration costs, although fundraising is encouraged.
Meanwhile, another fundraiser is coming Saturday in Americus — and this is targeted towards a pair of ALS patients, Ray Paige and Danny Williams. Robin Paige says a lot is coming.
Activities will be at Harry and Lloyd’s in Americus starting at 1 pm. Proceeds will help offset medical expenses and also make handicapped-accessible adjustments in their homes.
