An international business with a local connection is helping a regional nonprofit with a local tie.
The Cargill Foundation has granted $10,000 to SparkWheel so the agency can provide food and snacks at Logan Avenue, WIlliam Allen White and Walnut elementary schools as well as Emporia High.
The grant reflects the Cargill Foundation’s goal of ensuring nutritious food to foster learning and to develop equitable access to STEM coursework as a channel to significant careers
SparkWheel had been known as Communities in Schools of MidAmerica until earlier this year. It now works to remove learning barriers for over 30,000 students in Kansas, Missouri, Oklahoma and Iowa.
