The Emporia State athletics department has announced that Late Night at White returns to White Auditorium on Monday, October 16. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. and ESU fans will be introduced to the 2023-24 men’s and women’s basketball teams at 7:00 p.m. On-court games including a three-point contest and dunk competition will highlight the evening before each team holds an intra-squad scrimmage.
The ESU men finished 23-9 last year with a 15-7 record in the MIAA. The second-straight 20-win season was a first for ESU in its NCAA Division II era and first for the program since doing it three consecutive years from 1987-90. The Hornets made their second-ever trip to the NCAA Tournament last year and picked up the program’s first-ever victory in the Big Dance. The men were picked second in the MIAA preseason coaches poll and third in the media poll.
The Lady Hornets are set to begin the Brian Ostermann era as he takes over as head coach replacing Toby Wynn. E-State finished last season 14-15 and is seeking its first NCAA Tournament appearance since 2021. ESU was picked in a tie for ninth in the MIAA preseason coaches and eighth in the preseason media poll.
