The Lyon County and Flint Hills Leagues held their league championships in cross country in Ottawa on Thursday.
On the boys side in the Flint Hills League, Council Grove’s Lakoddah Downes finished fourth with a time of 16:51.94. Chase County’s Silus Hernandez finished sixth (17:20.33). Council Grove’s Jadyn Picolet was ninth (18:00.85) and Carson Schroer of Chase County finished 10th (18:11.87).
Central Heights won the team championship followed by West Franklin, Chase County, Northern Heights, Council Grove and Osage City.
On the boys side in the Lyon County League, Lebo’s Caleb Durst won his race in (17:07.13). Olpe’s Kaleb Arnold finished second (17:35.55). Hartford’s Cody Cleveland was third (19:11.95), Olpe’s Garret Hammond was fourth (19;34.14) and Brandon Punches of Burlingame finished fifth (19:59.32).
Olpe won the team championship with 16 points with Hartford taking second with 21.
On the girls side in the Flint Hills League, Northern Heights’ Ellei McCrory won her race in 18:58.29. Osage City’s Emory Speece finished second (20:16.15). Osage City’s Jaiton Bosse was sixth (21:45.30), Northern Heights’ Josie Tiffany was seventh (21:54.95) and Laura Cathcart also of NHHS finished 10th (22:35.67).
West Franklin won the team championship with 36 points, followed by Northern Heights with 42 and Osage City with 43.
On the girls side in the Lyon County League, Lebo’s Kennah Speer won her race at 22:16.46. Lebo’s Cira Plummer was second (22:59.68), Madison’s Lily Hudson was third (23:32.77) and Hartford’s Trinity Windle finished fourth (24:56.54).
