Two weeks ago, Kansas Governor Laura Kelly announced the state’s high-speed internet connectivity plan is up for public comment through Nov. 2. Volume 2 of the state’s Broadband Equity Access and Deployment initial proposal is now also available for public discussion.
Volume 2 involves objectives for broadband infrastructure work, as well as selection processes for subgrantees, workforce plans for supporting infrastructure development, inclusion initiatives for minority and women businesses, strategies to reduce cost-related barriers and environmental impact information.
Volume 2 connects with the first volume and the BEAD 5-Year Action Plan as the state works to build high-speed internet access across Kansas, serving to point out areas of need and to finalized requirements for entities wanting to apply for grant funds.
BEAD has already allocated close to $500 million across Kansas to develop broadband networks.
The public comment window for Volume 2 ends Nov. 12.
