The Emporia High football team played its final game at Welch Stadium Friday night as it hosted Washburn Rural.
Washburn Rural ranked second in Class 6A, cashed in on two Emporia High fumbles early, and never looked back in a 46-0 victory over Emporia High.
Emporia High’s best opportunity to score was in the first quarter with a missed field goal.
The Spartans recorded 130 yards of total offense. Rylan Crowell recorded 43 yards rushing on 15 carries.
Sheldon Stewart went 3-for-5 passing for 38 yards and had two catches for 31 yards.
Micah Gray went 4-for-14 passing in his first career start for Emporia High for 30 yards.
The second consecutive shut out is the first time Emporia High has been shut out in back-to-back games since 1983.
Emporia High is now 0-7 on season, 0-3 in the Centennial League. Emporia High concludes the regular season with a trip to Junction City next Friday.
