The Emporia High volleyball team was tested on Saturday in its home tournament at EHS.
In a competitive field from top to bottom, Emporia High finished seventh with a 3-3 record.
Emporia High went 2-2 in pool play and started the day with wins over Sumner Academy (25-8, 25-15), Maize (25-21, 21-25, 25-17) before falling to Lawrence (25-21, 25-15). The Lady Spartans fell in their consolation semifinal to Bishop Carroll (25-23, 25-11) before bouncing back and defeating Maize in the seventh-place match (26-24, 22-25, 25-19).
Coach Ping Wang says it was a busy and competitive day of volleyball.
Emporia High will take a 25-11 record into sub-state. The Lady Spartans’ first round opponent and site will be determined by the middle part of this upcoming week.
