Advanced voting for Lyon County residents is set to begin with voter registration coming to an end soon.
The voter registration deadline is Tuesday with advanced voting by mail beginning Wednesday and in-person advanced voting set to begin Monday. In addition to mail ballots and in person voting inside of the Lyon County Election Office, residents can take advantage of an offsite option at the Lyon County Fairgrounds Anderson Building from 9 am to 1 pm October 28.
Advance voting will end at noon on Monday, November 6.
The general election is Nov. 7 with City Commission, City Council, Mayor and school board positions all on the ballot. A 0.50-cent sales tax supporting capital improvements will also be on the ballot for Olpe residents.
As always, KVOE will bring you live Election Day coverage including results and candidate reactions. Ahead of election day, KVOE will be continuing its series of candidate forums on Thursday focusing on the USD 253 Emporia Board of Education.
Thursday’s forum will feature incumbents Jeremy Dorsey, Grant Riles and Leslie Seeley. Our forums will conclude next Tuesday, October 24 with USD 253 incumbent Art Gutierrez and hopefuls Linda Forbes, Christy Grant, and Sam Tovar.
All forums begin at 10:06 am and will be stored in the KVOE.com Audio Vault after their completion. The school board forums follow last Tuesday’s and Thursday’s forums featuring candidates for Emporia City Commission.
