An early miscue and missed opportunities haunted the Emporia High boys soccer team Tuesday night against St. Mary’s Academy.
Emporia High’s four-match winning streak was snapped in a 1-0 loss to the Crusaders. The Crusaders scored the match’s only goal in the fourth minute of play.
Emporia High had multiple opportunities to tie the game but couldn’t find the back of the net or were called offsides.
Coach Victor Ibarra says the Spartans controlled the game, but just couldn’t get on the scoreboard.
Emporia High is now 8-7 on the season. The Spartans conclude the regular season against Junction City at home at 6:15 p.m. Thursday.
