After allowing Fort Hays State to steal set three, the Emporia State volleyball team roared back to dominate in the fourth in a 3-1 victory on the road over the Tigers in Hays Tuesday night in a 26-24, 25-20, 23-25, 25-12 decision at Gross Memorial Coliseum. Sandora Sasaki converted a staggering 32 kills in the match, the most by an Emporia State player in the rally-scoring era and tied for the most in NCAA Division II this season Sasaki has now scored in double-figures in 19 matches to open the season, the most for an ESU player since the NCAA transitioned to 25-point sets from 30-point games in 2008. Emporia State controlled the net thanks to Camilla Ossola’s five blocks while Lillian Zeigler added four blocks and McKenya Sorrells tallied three. Emporia State improves to 10-9 overall while moving to 4-7 in MIAA play. The Lady Hornets return home Friday to host Missouri Southern at White Auditorium. First serve is set for 6:00 p.m.
