Wednesday Bushman had quite the Thursday night.
Bushman became the latest champion of The Cut at Flint Hills Technical College. She tells KVOE News culinary arts looked like a good idea for one simple reason:
Ava Kemmerly was gracious after finishing second.
Melanie Dicks-Pritchard and Brock Constable also participated.
College Vice President of Advancement Mike Crouch says The Cut gets bigger every year — because it gets better.
Contestants were given a set time to create appetizers, entrees and desserts from baskets of mystery ingredients. They then got critiques from judges Gus Bays, Jessica Symmonds and Tammy Edmiston.
Besides serving as a showcase for the Culinary Arts and Multimedia departments, the event also raised over $1,500 for the Wrangler Student Relief Fund through the sale of two Evora Wheeler pies. Also, the Gufler Mansion donated $500 that became two scholarships — one for Bushman and one for Multimedia student Gavin Hinrichs.
