Emporia State redshirt junior runner Jaime Diaz finished fourth at the MIAA Championships at Gans Creek in Columbia, Mo. on Friday afternoon. Diaz ran a time of 24:20.26 in the men’s 8K as David Kibet of Washburn won the individual title followed by Brian Mitei of Central Missouri. Last year’s champion Gidieon Kimutai of Missouri Southern finished third. Henry Jones finished 21st and missed All-MIAA Honorable Mention honors by one place. The Hornets ran seventh as a team as Pittsburg State won the team title.
In the women’s race, sophomore Lady Hornet Tayler Williams finished the 6K course 26th with a time of 22:50.27. The Lady Hornets finished 11th as Pittsburg State swept the team championships. Both teams return to action November 4 in Joplin, Mo. for the NCAA Division II Central Regional.
