Emporia Fire battled a structure fire in the city limits early Saturday.
Battalion Chief Tony Fuller says the call to 217 Union was reported just before 1:30 am. Firefighters discovered “significant” fire coming from the east side or front of the house.
Fuller says crews got the fire under control quickly, but there was extensive damage to the front third of the home and there was smoke damage throughout the house.
The cause and origination point are unclear. Besides Emporia Fire, Emporia Police, Evergy and Kansas Gas all responded to the scene.
