Two area volleyball teams are making return trips to state.
Lebo defeated Waverly in the Waverly sub-state game, 25-13, 27-25 to qualify for the Class 1A Division II State Tournament. Olpe qualified for the Class 1A Division I State Tournament as it defeated Crest, 25-14, 20-25, 25-12, in the Marmaton Valley sub-state championship game. Olpe defeated Yates Center to advance to the championship game. Yates Center eliminated Madison in the first round.
MdCV was eliminated by Waverly in the semifinals.
In the 1A Division I sub-state hosted by Burlingame, Burlingame and Northern Heights were eliminated in the first round. Burlingame lost to Troy (26-28, 27-25, 25-18). Northern Heights lost to Doniphan West (25-17, 25-17)
At the Class 1A-Division II sub-state hosted by Centre, Hartford was eliminated by Central Christian in the semifinals (25-15, 25-13).
In Class 2A at Wabaunsee, Lyndon was eliminated in the semifinals to eventual sub-state champion Valley Heights (25-12, 26-16) while Mission Valley was eliminated in the opening round by Wabaunsee (25-23, 25-16. Chase County was eliminated in the semifinals of the Hillsboro sub-state to Sedgwick (25-7, 25-10)
In Class 3A, Osage City was eliminated in the first round to Hayden in the West Franklin sub-state (25-9, 25-27, 25-15).
Lebo is the No.1 seed the Class 1A-Division II State Tournament to be held at White Auditorium. The Wolves will open up pool play against Bucklin at 11 a.m., play Wheatland-Grinnell at 1 p.m. and follow that with a match against Hanover at 3 p.m. Lebo defeated Hanover in 2022 in three sets iin the Class 1A-DII state championship game. The top 2 seeds from each pool will move to bracket play on Saturday.
Olpe is the No. 7 seed in the Class 1A-Division State Tournament to be played at United Wireless Arena in Dodge City. Olpe will open pool play at 9:30 a.m. Friday against Little River, then play Spearville at 10:30 a.m. and wrap up pool play at 12:30 p.m. against Clifton-Clyde.
Lebo will take a 36-2 record into state. Olpe will take a 20-17 record into state.
Seedings and pool play will be announced by KSHSAA on Sunday morning.
