The Emporia High football team’s season ended with a 56-13 loss to Blue Valley Southwest Friday night in Overland Park.
Blue Valley Southwest scored the game’s first 35 points before Emporia High got on the board with five seconds left in the first half. Micah Gray found Sheldon Stewart for a 27-yard touchdown.
The Timberwolves scored the next 14 points to start the second half with the final 20 minutes of the game having a running clock.
Gray found Stewart for the second time with a 13-yard touchdown reception with 5:41 remaining.
Gray threw for 158 yards and two touchdowns. Stewart had three receptions for 49 yards and two touchdowns. Madden Seidl had three catches for 52 yards.
Emporia High ends its season with an 0-9 record and its the first winless season for the Spartans since 2001. Emporia High graduates 12 seniors from this year’s team.
