Over the coming months, Emporia water customers will notice new meters. The work actually begins this week.
Geotech GPS will start locating new meters across town, starting in northwest Emporia — specifically north of 24th from Graphic Arts to Prairie, including the Becker Addition involving Prairie Street to Lincoln north of Interstate 35.
City Communications Manager Christine Torrens says this is the opening round of work to change out the water meters. The new equipment will let customers digitally monitor their water use and keep track of water consumption.
Work could go through next year.
