Developers of a planned travel plaza in far west Emporia say they are making progress towards completing the project.
Brownstone 3 Development Vice President of Operations Darrin Dodge tells KVOE News the travel plaza portion of the development should close in early December, with ground-level construction beginning at that time. Kwik Stop will be the travel plaza name, with the plaza operating under the Pilot flag.
The strip center aspect is 80 percent full, according to Dodge. Tenants should be announced “shortly” with construction to begin after Jan. 1. Dodge says negotiations continue with a hotel operator.
The better-than-30-acre development is just west of the US Highway 50 and Graphic Arts intersection, immediately south of the US-50 roundabout. Underground utility work was completed almost a year ago.
