The differences between estate and transition planning are the focus of a special seminar organized by Lyon County Extension next week.
Extension agent Brian Rees says estate planning and transition planning often work hand-in-hand, but people need to work on both — not just one or the other.
The seminar is at 5:30 pm Thursday at the Fairgrounds Anderson Building. Shon Robben of Arthur-Green LLP of Manhattan and Ashlee Westerhold of Kansas State’s Office of Farm and Ranch Transition are the featured speakers, with topics including estate-related legal terms; probate matters; asset transfer situations; and a comparison of entities, trusts, wills and transfer on death paperwork.
The RSVP deadline has passed.
