A Missouri man was hospitalized following a crash on the Kansas Turnpike early Saturday morning.
According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, 28-year-old Christopher Caleb Wallerich of Kansas City, Missouri was traveling northbound in a 2020 Hyundai Elantra just before 3:10 am. The vehicle struck a deer at mile marker 144.8, 17 miles northeast of Emporia and less than three miles southwest of the Admire gate, and went across both lanes of traffic.
The Elantra then entered the ditch and rolled once coming to a rest on its wheels. Wallerich was taken to Stormont Vail in Topeka with suspected minor injuries.
Wallerich was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident.
