Lyon County deputies, Emporia Fire and Hartford-Neosho Rapids firefighters responded to at least one brush fire east of Emporia.
What was initially reported as a string of brush fires was noted around 3 pm on Interstate 35 between mile marker 141-143, or from the Kansas Highway 130 junction to near the Lyon-Coffey county line. One small fire was confirmed shortly after emergency responders arrived.
