Emporia State senior quarterback Braden Gleason and senior punter Ross Brungardt have earned MIAA Player of the Week honors following the Hornets’ 45-42 victory over Fort Hays State last Saturday. Gleason picked up his fourth Offensive Player of the Week award after tossing six touchdowns on the way to becoming the MIAA’s all-time record holder in the category. Brungardt was named the Special Teams Player of the Week for the third time in his career after blasting four punts for over 200 total yards last week. Brungardt is leading the MIAA in punting average while ranking ninth in the county. The Hornets finished the year 8-3 with a 7-3 record in the MIAA and are awaiting a possible bowl bid. ESU Athletics expects to know the team’s bowl fate sometime on Tuesday.
