This year’s Rotary Club Grocery Grab is benefiting an area food pantry as well as a local shelter.
Madison Bread Basket was selected as the finalist for the Grocery Grab, which means a five-minute scramble across the store to get as many groceries as possible. Volunteer Janette Luthi says Madison Bread Basket is open Thursdays. Residents in need can get $20 worth of groceries for themselves and up to $10 in groceries for each additional person in the household.
Madison Bread Basket cleared almost $500 worth of groceries Saturday.
The financial proceeds go to Bloom House Youth Services. Director Clara Corn says there are several ways Bloom House could use the funding once that total is announced.
As always, the event was held at Good’s CashSaver. Store manager James Miller says it was a “fabulous” event.
Rotary Club President Mickey Edwards says this has become Rotary’s signature event — and that was by design.
Besides Madison Bread Basket, the following were selected as finalists:
*Carlos Solis
*Angela Robertson
*Anna McGuire
*Sacred Heart
*Corky’s Cupboard
All five got $50 gift cards to Good’s CashSaver.
