It may well be next week before Emporia firefighters end their investigation into the Thanksgiving fire at 205 South Constitution.
Two people suffered “significant” burns and were taken to Newman Regional Health for treatment. Names have not been released. Emporia Fire Battalion Chief Tony Fuller says he can’t release other information, including the extent of burns, due to federal Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act regulations.
Fuller says firefighters noted significant fire from the front, or east side, of the house as they arrived. Firefighters got the fire under control quickly, but there was extensive damage to the front third of the house along with smoke and water damage throughout the home.
