With Black Friday in the rearview mirror, local shoppers turned their attention to local storefronts for Small Business Saturday.
There were deals aplenty in and around Emporia, especially along Commercial Street. At Trox Gallery and Gifts owner Kaila Mock says artwork is always a great gift option.
Mock adds that for every piece of artwork sold, the artist who made it receives 60 percent of those proceeds.
Emporia Main Street Events Coordinator Jessica Buccholz notes the importance of this cycle saying “You vote for the community you want with your dollars.”
With the colder weather in place throughout the day, many residents took a break from shopping to pick up some warm drinks and treats at Gravel City Roasters. Owner Joe Corn says he loves to bring a festive feel to the business during the Holiday season.
Corn adds they also make it a priority to help push business to local retailers such as Trox with which they share a space.
In addition to finding the perfect deals Saturday, local shoppers were also on the hunt for some of Santa’s little helpers as Emporia Main Street once again put on its annual elf scavenger across the downtown corridor. 30 elves were spread out across businesses and for residents who managed to find them, register them on their passports and get those turned in eligible for a variety of prizes.
Drawings for those prizes will be taking place Monday.
