For the first time in school history, the Lyndon Tigers are state champions in football.
On Saturday at Fischer Field in Newton, the Tigers defeated Wichita County 34-6 to knock off the defending state champions in 8-Man Division I.
Lyndon never trailed in the game and jumped out to an 18-0 lead before Wichita County scored in the second quarter.
Tanner Heckel ran for 254 yards and four touchdowns to lead the way for Lyndon.
Lyndon finishes its season with a 13-0 record.
