Emporia State quarterback Braden Gleason is one of nine finalists for the Harlon Hill Trophy given annually to the best player in NCAA Division II college football. Gleason was a unanimous First Team All-MIAA pick at quarterback after leading the country in completion percentage this year and setting the MIAA record for career touchdown passes. Gleason holds ESU records in passing yards, touchdown passes, total touchdowns and is third in career touchdown passes. Gleason was one of 38 nominees for the award and advanced to national voting after finishing in the top two in Super Regional balloting. Running back Brian Shay won the award in 1998 after finishing as runner-up in 1997.
