Work continues to bring joy to those served by SOS this holiday season.
SOS is deep into its annual Holiday Drive. On KVOE’s Talk of Emporia recently, Director of Community Relations Cara Codney says things are going well — with an increased need already evident from last year.
SOS encourages residents to adopt people or families who have worked with SOS “consistently” since September and submitted wish lists, with items ranging from winter clothing to toys to gift cards. Here’s Shelter Manager Adele Clark:
Donors are encouraged to call the SOS office, 620-343-8799, to set an appointment before bringing their items. Gifts will be distributed across the SOS coverage area, which includes Lyon, Chase, Coffey, Morris and Osage counties. More information is available online at soskansas.com/holidaydrive.
The holiday drive coincides with several other activities, including the KVOE Mitten Trees collecting warm winter clothing items from several locations across town. The pickup will happen Thursday afternoon. Also, Kari’s Diamonds and Bridal is now selling tickets for its annual Christmas Ring for Kids fundraiser.
