Sentencing is coming next year after a jury trial in a Greenwood County cattle rustling case.
Greenwood County Attorney Jill Gillett says a jury convicted John Byron Cannon on three counts of felony cattle theft Friday after a short trial.
The Fredonia Livestock Auction cooperated with the investigation, which involved the Greenwood County Sheriff’s Office and Special Agent Jim Pinegar of the Kansas Attorney General Office’s Livestock Investigation Unit. Gillett says the cattle production industry “is an integral part of the Flint Hills and working to protect that within Greenwood County protects the long-term livelihood of the farmers and ranchers that work hard to produce cattle.”
Sentencing will be Feb. 15. Other case details have not been divulged.
