The Emporia State athletic department finished in seventh position following the fall semester in the MIAA Commissioner’s Cup standings. The Commissioner’s Cup is the MIAA’s annual all-sports award presented to the best-performing school inside ‘Association’ play. The 7th place finish in the fall matches the highest for Emporia State since the debut of the Cup in the 2016-17. Hornet football and Lady Hornet soccer led the point scoring for ESU by each finishing third in the conference standings. The Gorillas of Pittsburg State are in first at the end of the first semester with Central Missouri trailing by almost a point.
